Academic. Researcher. Industry Expert.
I am G. M. Faysal, a Textile Engineering professional currently serving as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Textile Engineering at Northern University Bangladesh, Dhaka. With over 14 years of combined experience in academia, research, and industry, my work spans technical textiles, sustainable composite materials, and environmental engineering.
My academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Textile Technology from AUST, followed by an M.Sc. in Technical Textile from DUET — where I researched cotton spinning waste as agricultural compost. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Technical Textile (Material Science & Engineering) at DUET, with a focus on developing fire-retardant bio-composites using indigenous materials, including banana peel extracts.
Beyond academia, I bring real-world expertise from Coats Bangladesh Ltd. (member of Coats plc UK) and Square Texcom Ltd. I serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Natural Science and Textile Technology (JNSTT) and hold international certifications in IOSH Safety Management, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Lean Six Sigma.
I am a proud member of seven international professional organisations, including IAENG, HKSME, IOASD, ISDS, STRA, and ASR. I believe in bridging the gap between industry and academia to foster sustainable innovation in textile engineering.
